One of the most satisfying features of any trip to India is the laid back pace of life, a pace perfectly complimented by bicycle travel. Much of India 's countryside moves by bicycle, meaning that no other mode of transport lets you mingle as closely with the people you meet along the way. The amazing diversity of India means there really is something for every cyclist; the landscape ranges from tropical beaches to dense forest to rolling hills to magnificent mountains, while the people you'll meet along the way could be Portuguese-influenced Goans, Orrisan tribes or Buddhist Tibetans. Those seeking a genuine challenge, ready to test their lungs and legs against the highest roads in the world, should head for the mountains of Ladakh, while those wanting a more relaxed break should opt for either the beaches of Goa or the deserts of Rajasthan. Alternatively, if you're after some fairly serious cycling, mixed with either cultural or natural discoveries, then either Sikkim or Orissa could be just right. Please refer to the grades given to each tour when making your choice; the higher the grade, the fitter and more experienced you'll need to be.
